Spring Time Detox!

This info was taken directly from Victoria Henley’s web site. She has a new show on Cosmo Radio called “Cosmo Life with Victoria”. It my absolute favorite radio show. I’ve gotten so many great tips from her show. She interviews great people. If you’ve got Sirius XM radio, you should definitely tune in. The show airs on Thursdays from 1 to 3 and it re-broadcasts on Saturdays and Sundays.

Dr. Lindsey Duncan’s Springtime Detox

Let’s Get Cleansed!
On today’s “Cosmo Life with Victoria”, Dr. Lindsey Duncan joined us to share his Springtime Detox using Superfruits juices like Acai, Goji, Noni and Mangosteen. I asked Dr. Lindsey if he could send me all the details and he did! Let’s start cleansing!!

For 3-7 Days:
Breakfast:
Lunch:
  • A shot each of the Noni, Goji and Mangosteen
  • A Rainbow Salad: Choose from every color of the rainbow, like fresh berries, melons, red, yellow and orange peppers, Spinach and leafy greens to mix into your salad. Add some nuts and seeds to up the protein level (but go light!) and top it off with a healthy squeeze of Fresh Lemon juice and/or some olive oil. You can also use a Balsamic Vinaigrette (like Newman’s Own).
Snack:
  • Be careful here — after a long (and cold) winter, we have all eased the winter blues with a few too many nights of comfort foods.  Make sure what you put in your body is worth the calories, so pick nutrient rich snacks like Organic Apples, Carrots or low-calorie chews loaded with vitamins, minerals and antioxidantshttp://superfoods.genesistoday.com/products/chews
Dinner:
  • A shot each of the Noni, Goji and Mangosteen
  • A Second Rainbow salad (mix it up from the lunchtime version!) OR a plate of steamed veggies
All Day:
  • Drink as much water (with fresh lemon juice if it makes it easier to drink) as you can all day to flush out toxins
  • Once a day you can add a shot of Resveratrol (30mg a day is all you need to slow down the aging process by 30%!)http://superfoods.genesistoday.com/superfruit-products/resveratrol/resveratrol-supplement
  • Get out and get moving, try to get in at least 30 minutes of exercise 5 days a week.  Just make sure to hydrate.  To keep your energy up and your body in top shape, try drinking coconut water which is lower calorie than a sports drink and has even more electrolytes – best of all, it’s all-natural.

Here’s what Dr. Lindsey sent for all of us:

Drink Smart with Superfruits
When choosing a juice drink, read the labels and be smart about your drink choices.   Juices should be high in nutrients and vitamins – and not sugar laden and full of ingredients you aren’t familiar with.  I recommend superfood juices that contain Acai, Resveratrol and Goji.  These juices are loaded with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
Acai: Known as the “Beauty Berry” – and also known as the “Viagra of the Amazon”, the acai comes from Brazil and is a potent superfood known for strengthening the hair, skin & nails, boosting both beauty and libido for a winning combination.
Goji: The Goji berry comes from China where it is called “the happy berry,” which says it all because it boosts both mood and libido!
Noni: Noni fruit has been revered for centuries by the French Polynesian people who cherished its ability to support the body’s detoxification processes. Full of minerals and novel compounds, noni also supports healthy microbial balance in the gut.
Mangosteen: Mangosteen’s xanthones have an extremely high ORAC (oxygen radical absorption capacity) rating and are among the world’s most powerful antioxidants. Xanthones can neutralize damage caused by oxygen radicals (free radicals).
Resveratrol: This amazing compound can slow aging by up to 30 percent!  It’s also proven to support a healthy heart.  You can find reseveratrol in pomegranates, grapes, wine and in juice.
A Safe, Healthy DetoxSpring is the best time to cleanse, but be careful – cleansing can be the healthiest thing you do for your body or it can wreak absolute havoc.  The key to cleansing is to make sure you load up on nutrients, you can do this by incorporating liquid superfood supplements into your cleanse.  This gives your digestive system a rest, cleanses out the toxins and is not depriving your body of nutrients like many of the cleanses on the market today.
